David Pointer is a member of the firm’s litigation and prosecution groups. David’s practice primarily includes patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, opinion preparation, and related IP counseling.  He has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications involving numerous technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, networking and wireless communication, Internet of Thing (IoT) devices, wireless power transfer systems, control systems, optical systems, data acquisition systems, battery management, plasma ignition systems  for internal combustion engines, and integrated circuits. David has written articles on patent and trademark issues involving emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and blockchain. 

While in law school, David interned for the Honorable Jane Triche-Milazzo of the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana and for the Honorable Kenneth Hoyt of the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Texas. He was a Graduate Editor on the Journal of Civil Law Studies at LSU. Prior to law school, David worked for Texas Instruments for five years. He held positions in product marketing and application engineering.
