Michellei Fisher is an associate in Thomas Horstemeyer’s patent prosecution group, where she leverages a multidisciplinary background in biotechnology and chemistry to support clients across a range of life sciences innovations.

Her academic research focused on understanding viral disease mechanisms using both human tissue and mathematical models. After graduating, her research expanded into industry applications, including developing novel methods to isolate and quantify chemical contaminants in ingested products and using stable isotopes for human identification.

Before practicing law, Michellei managed forensic laboratory operations in both startup and federal environments, overseeing regulatory compliance, method validation, and cross-functional scientific initiatives. This experience provides her with practical insights into the business considerations involved when developing and protecting innovations.

During law school, Michellei conducted AI-related legal research for a private law firm, completed graduate-level computer science coursework in AI, and externed for Justice Todd W. Eddins of the Hawaii Supreme Court. This experience further strengthens her ability to bridge technical concepts and legal analysis for clients working at the intersection of emerging technologies.
