TODD C. (T.C.) DEVEAU is a member of Thomas|Horstemeyer’s prosecution section. TC has extensive patent drafting and prosecution expertise and has represented a wide variety of clients in both boutique and big law settings.  TC has drafted and obtained numerous patents on technologies, from designer handbags and shoes to novel cancer therapeutics and diagnostics.  TC has also drafted opinions related to patentability, non-infringement, and a variety of other patent-related legal services.

TC has extensive technical expertise in the fields of biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, virology, molecular genetics, neuroscience, neurochemistry, neurobiology, neurophysiology, and neuropharmacology. TC received his B.S. in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in 2005. As an undergraduate, he was interested in novel therapies for central nervous system (CNS) disorders and injury. He gained technical experience in the field of pharmacology as an undergrad researcher, followed by extensive experience as a research technician in the fields of psychiatry and human genetics at Emory University. He earned his Ph.D. in the field of Neuroscience from Emory University in 2015 and his thesis work focused on enhancements of cellular therapy for ischemic stroke.

As an American Heart Association pre-doctoral fellow, TC worked on enhancements to stem cell-derived neurons to improve their efficacy after transplantation in the ischemic brain. He was a graduate teaching assistant for the University’s undergraduate neurobiology course, mentored numerous undergraduate research assistants, and mentored junior graduate students. He also gave numerous talks on his research, presented his research yearly at major international research conferences, and has authored and co-authored numerous publications in high-impact and top-tier journals.
