Mark your calendars for this important breakout on May 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Attendees will learn about conducting uncomfortable conversations that they often dread and try to avoid, particularly when the matter at stake is important to their career, the outcome is uncertain, or their self-esteem may be implicated. Those conversations include asking for a raise, giving a critical performance review, saying no to a colleague who needs assistance with a project, negotiating with opposing counsel, or responding to a client’s complaint about a bill.  

Jenn is a seasoned intellectual property professional who often mentors other lawyers and coaches colleagues on how to handle these challenging situations.  She says, “We practice these conversations over and over in our heads, trying to figure out what to say in advance and then wondering afterward what we should have said differently.  At the conference, we will have a dynamic and engaging discussion as we explore what makes these conversations difficult, why we avoid them, and why they often go poorly.  Then, we will learn how to develop an effective approach, mindset, and strategy to make these conversations easier.”
